HUTT PIPE BRIDGE.

OFFICIAL SANCTION. A warrant authorising the Wellington City Council to construct the Hutt Pipe Bridgo (already built), approaches to that bridge, and tho Waiwetu bridge, are published in the current Gozotte. Tho warrant sets forth that the cost of the bridge is to be provided as follows:—Government subsidy, dSlOOO; Lower Hutt Borough, .£325; Eastbourne Borough, .£ll2 10s. j P. J. Nathan, .£1600; Hutt County, ,£162 10s.; Wellington City, i7CG2; Pctone Borough, .£2588. If the works cost raoro than .£13,450, the additional amount is to bo paid by Wellington City and Petono Borough, in proportion to their contributions. " Petonc Borough covenanted to construct an extension o£ Jackson Street to the Hutt bridge, and to form the western approach. Lower Hutt Borough and the Hutt County havo paid the amounts payable by them, and Eastbourne Borough lia's paid the sum of 4256 ss. The warrant further states that the cost of the Waiwetu bridge will be increased, by reason of an alteration ..of levels, to permit the passage under tho bridgo of launches 'and pleasure-boats, and that, as Petono Borough has objected to pay any part of this increased cost, Wellington City has agreed to pay the excess amount.
