RUGBY UNION MAKES PEOTEST. There wns a general protest at tho Wellington Rugby Union meeting last night, when it was stated that the Defence Department proposed holding a number of Saturday, afternoon parade?. Someone suggested that "tho men" ivero to blame for that." "The men are not (o blame at all; the people in authority are," said another member decisively. Mr. C. Atkinson: "Well, we will make ft mighty big nrolcst against it. I think wo can make them sit up. We will have nil the other sports bodies with us. It agitation makes butter, I think wo can uiiiko those people, sit un." "It will kill our junior football," was another comment. "Four Saturdays out of five!" exclaimed n member. Which was followed by, "That's absolutely rotten." It was decided to confer with the representatives of Association football, who, it was understood, were protesting against tile sumo proposal. "Gei up a deputation, and go along and see General Godley on tho matter,'- was an idea which found favour. Messrs. Hales, Perry, and Burns were appointed the sub-committee to confer with tho Association representatives.
