ON THE HEIGHTS.

THE TINAKORI WIRELESS STATION.

The work of erecting tho Tinakori Wireless Station is proceeding steadily. The main building, which may be seen silhouetted against tho western sky, is now completed—a solid rubble stone structure, with walls two feet in thickness. Tho dynnino and motor are now being fitted into extra solid foundations, and a start lias been made to put together the ladder-like structures which are to form tho supports of tho aerials. A beginning has also boon made with the connecting wire from Uio city electric mains to tho top of the hill. Current equal to 7 horse-power is needed for the new station, and it is considered to be considerably cheaper to t;so Hie city power thnn to generate it on Hid spot with an oil engine, as it would be necessary to keep a man on the premises day nisil night to attend to the engine. It will bo a cold spot in the winter months for tho operators, who are to talk to the outer world, but ample provision is beinir made to heat the rooms by means of stoves projecting well out from the walls. It is expected that the station will be ready for duty in about two mouths' time or less, if tho weather does not delay tho outside work too much.
