As a result a mini her of Yachts and fishing., smacks wero sunk. Tho piles supporting the Wflitemata Rowing Club's slied were carried away, causing tho structure to collapse. Tho shed contained fourteen boats, and six of these havo been. smashed to splinters, and somo others, it is feared, are damaged beyond nil hope of repair. 11l addition to tho loss of boats, practically tho whole stock o£ racing sculls has been lost, while tho contents of members' private lockers aro practically ruined. The loss (o the club is estimated nt about .£SOO, and private members will suffer considerably.
