GOVERNOR AS ODDFELLOW.
ATTENDS ORDINARY LODC-E MEET' ING. (Hit T6le*ranh,-l'rosi iiiiocla.tlon.l Auckland, April 23. The Governor, who is a member of ths Manchester Unity of Oddfellows,l having expressed a desire to witness tho ordinary working of a lodge meeting', attended the meeting of tho Fountain of Friendship Lodge this evening. His Excellency, in replying- to his welcome, said ho felt intense) sympathy with tho Order of which tliov were members, lie could not better fulfil his mission as representative of the Sovereign than by associating himself on •an equality with an Order of this kind. (Prolonged applause.) King George, ho continued, like his distinguished predecessor, took tho deepest interest in orders of this kind. "I, therefore," continued Lord .Islington, "do not think I can represent his Mirjesty in a liloro tangible way than, by becoming a member of this Order." In conclusion, his Excellency wished godspeed to the Oddfellows in the district of Auckland and throughout the Dominion. (Applause.) •
