WINTER SPORTS.
1 . BUGBY LEAGUE WANT GROUNDS. An application by the Northern Union l'ootball Leaguo for playing grounds was considered at. a ' meeting of the Reserves Committee of the City Council last evening. The chair was occupied by Councillor G. Frost.
Tho league asked for tho use of thrco grounds every Saturday, and guaranteed that the grounds would bo token , advantage of by six teams. It was explained by the Reserves Committee that the grounds had already been allotted, ond the application was therefore too late. The committee advised the leaguo to approach tho various bodies using the grounds, and endeavour to get on at an earlier hour.
This arrangement will probably suit the league, who state that they merely wish to keep their players in form for representative matches.
It was stated at last night's meeting, that the Reserves Committee, is endeavouring to get thoWmncil to push on the .work in connection With the new grounds at Lyall Bay. Kilbirnie Reserve, which was previously allotted to the Wellington Football Association, is to be used on Saturday afternoons by the Kilbirnie Hockey Club, but tlie Football Association will bo allowed to play matches there up till 2.45 p.m.
