CITY MAYORALTY.
MR. A. S. BISS'S CANDIDATURE. An enthusiastic meeting of Mr. A. S. Biss's supporters was held at Godber's Rooms, Cuba Street, last evening, to promote his candidature for the Mayoralty. Plans of campaign were t discussed, and various matters, dealt with. En, couraging reports wero received from committees. Messrs. John Smith (Acting-Mayor), R, A Wright, apd A. S. Biss, candidates for the Mayoralty, were brought together yesterday bv the council of the Wellington Citizens' League with the object of ascertaining whether or not some arrangement could be arrived at whereby "two of the candidates would stand down in favour of a third, in order to ' avoid a division of interest at tho poll which is to bo held on April 21. After an amicable conference each of the candidates decided to po to the poll, and so allow the electors to decide who is to bo their Mavor for tho ensuing year. ■V meeting of . electors favourable to the candidature of Mr. John Smith in the Mayoral election will .be held at the Chamber of Commerce' on April 15, at 8 p.m.
