(By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Feilding, April 9. Excellent acceptances were received for the second day's rariiiK at Feilding, but tho heavy raiii which fell all night nnd right up to starting time niiide the course a quagmire. Tho scratching pen was freely used during the day. Makara' and Hermia wci-e evenly backed in the Denbigh Stakes, in which there wero only five runners. The first named was unlucky at the barrier, and Hermia jumped off in front. She was soon displaced by St. Toney, who was not again headed, and won comfortably. Hermia was clear of Makara who was a head in front of Gold Batten-. Loonta was the only withdrawal from tho Awahuri Hack Welter, leaving nine runners. The betting was very even, three horses being heavily supported. Lord Renown and East wind were prominent as the field raced out of the straight, and, following in close order, came Tiwari and Matlow. At the halfmile Master Tupulii wns tailed off, nnd Matlow anil Olahu moved up to the leaders. Matlow was done with at the turn, whero Lord Renown also had cnmijrli. Otahu came in by himself, and won by throe lengths from Moahau, who enme very fast over tho last quarter, but tired badly at the finish. Fashion Plato ran badly, nnd finished well Kick. Loolantor, with T. Fritclnml in the nH(il«, wm the best Uackod or the flvo

runners in tho Kimbolton Hurdler. Ho led till the second fence from home, wliero he jumped the inside rail, which came away, and broko Pritchard's leg, and also hit t. Jones (on CoriK-liaii) on the heml, infiictiiiK a scalp wound and knocking him out cf tho saddle. Slovoiis liresentlv had a good lead, but Silva iimshcd rcry s(ron K l.v and won with a h.tt oin iiaiid. Waterworks was a ])Oor third. Tho courso was no.v in a very cut-up condition, and it was raining so heavy while the Oroun Hack Hurdles were being run that it was an utter impossibility to pick up the horses except in the straight. Morric Lad and Silver Cliise were backed in rlut orckr, but a ba<l jump nt the fence in front of the stand put tho former out of court. Silver CI use lump; cut badly, and Clemency got up on tho rails, and, in an iiilcrostins? finis*, won by n couple of lengths. Canadian was wo I clear of tho others, n!io were srriinK nut. Khamsin had acted well in the benvy goiiiß on tho first day, and the public, relnemboring this, made her a better favourito than anything el so in the Eastor Handicap. She was early in front, and ihoiißli scvoral times herses ran up to her, sno was not headed, and, in tho straight, after resisting a strong challenge by Sir hiiox, sho won by a pouplo of lengths. Julian, tho saconil favourite, ran badly, and Manawakaha, after lwinc prominent for a mile, faded out of it. Miscnl was tailed off in the first part, but ho finished strongly, and was just outside tho plaoed horses. The Rewa Hack event was a mud scramble. Lady Volsa, who wns out nrst, made the best showing, and, kceping the opposition at bay, ran homo comfortably from Z«te=, Muleteer, Mc-rrimac, and Septimus, who finished in a line. Parktirto, the favourite, was prominent to tho turn, where sho faded out of the contest. Pnfrnmbln was a slightly better favourite than Indra in tho Scurry, but neither Rained a situation. Rector Girl began smartly with Indra, but the latter gave way to Aviatrix at tho turn, and, when tho straight was reached, Awahou came fast on the outside. Rector Girl held lie?- ground in the run home, and won 'by a length. ~ Queen of Scots was favourite in the last race of the day, but was nevor in it. Out of a field of eight, Afterthought secured the best position from the start, and led bv a couple of lengths right to the straight. This horse looked an easy winner, when Plantation, with a fino run, came along on the outside, passed Afterthought, and won by a length. Three lengths were between Afterthought and Avaunce.
