PLASTERERS' DISPUTE.

Tho Conciliation Commissioner (Mr. P. Hally) sat with a Conciliation Council yesterday to investigate a dispute which has arisen between the Plasterers' Union and tho master builders of Wellington. Mc.-srs. Sievwright and Atkinson acted as assessors for tho ; iinion. and Messrs. A. Wilson, F. Foldey, and C. T. Kmony for tho employers. Mr. K. Kennedy appeared ns agent for tho union, and Mr.' W. A. W. Grenfell for the employers. Some discussion took' place at the outset as to what workers could properly be railed plasterers, objection being taken bv the builders to the inclusion in tho dispute of fibrous plaster makers, cement floor makers, and patent plaster workers. This initial difficulty was. got over, however. Tho union asked fur Is. 9d. per hour, an increaso of 2d. per hour on the ruling rate, and for a H-hours week. Practically all tho other items in dispute were settled, but theso demands tho builders would not grant. Clauses relating to apprentices ami overtimo were agreed to, but there was disagreement as to the rates for suburban work, and as to the degree of preference to be granted. The proceedings were adjourned until 10 a.m. ro-doy.
