NEW ARRIVALS.
THE TGHAKINA'S IMMIGRANTS. Tho Turakinn, which arrived from London yesterday, brought 351 passengers in all classes (1!) saloon, 38 second-class, and 294 in the steerage). Tho steerage passengers included 59 assisted immigrants, of whom 39 were adults and 20 children. The adults were mostly wives, who have come out to join their husbands, domestic servants, and farmers. The domestic servants numbered eleven. Two or three were open for engagement when the ship arrived, but places will easily be found for them. Among the ordinary passengers were a number of farmers, a few carpenters and engineers, and several miners bound for \Yo;t Coast ports. Mr. F. Dan by, Immigration Officer, stated that there would bo no dillienlty in finding country work for such of the immigrants as wanted it. Tho demand for tradesmen in (ho tow.is is not bo stood. The proportion of assisted immigrants to the 1010 l number of nasseugeis brought nut by the Tuvakma is small, owing to the fact that at this time of the. year the Tligh Commissioner's Office grant* assisted passages mainly to wives desirous of joining their husbands, children, omd douiestio wrvantß.
