PASPALUM DILATATUM
A FARMER'S TRIBUTE. A Jlaunganui Bluff fanner, Mr. M. N. Downey, states, according to the Northern Wairoa correspondent of the Auckland "Herald," that ho has never seen any grass which gives results approaching that of paspalum dilatatum, cither for dairy herds, beef cattle, or sheep, and, adds the correspondent, his contention is borne out by the expert buyers of live stock who attend the northern sales. Mr. Downey states that he has sown the seed on raupo swamp land, and in a. comparatively short time hag had tho satisfaction of seeing the native growth obliterated and its place filled by paspalum six fee,t high. 110 proffers the advice that it should be sown on any area whereon tall fescue has obtained a hold, for he has every reason to Iwlievo that in time the paspalum will choke the fescue out of existence.
