KUMAR AS AND PORK.
THE CROP IN THE NORTH. Considering the cheap cost at which kumaras can be grown, and their value for fattening swine, it is probable, says a northern writer, that kumara-fed pork will become a specially-known article. Many settlers about Wairoa nro now growing large quantities of the tuber for their pigs, every year seeing an increased area under cultivation. The crop is Fomewhat backward this year, but it promises to be a heavy one.
