PALMERSTON DAY BY DAY.
(By Telegraph— Special Correspondent.) Palmerston North, Match 7. A pair of horses-in a cab bolted in the Square yesterday, and collided with the verandah posts in front of the "Mnnawatu Meat Company's .shop,' two of t.'»; posts being smashed right off. The cab.suffered some damage also. A number of men are being prosecuted for playing "two up" in the train between Palmerston and Shannon, and the cases will be heard on Monday. A partv from Palmerston. comprising Messrs.. W. Park, P. Black, H. Hepworth, A. Tiley, A. Koe, A. Hillens. A\'. Kickard, and Whittalcer, left Palmerston by the Main Trunk express to-day en route to the National Park, whore they intend to spend a week's holiday. The time will be occupied in mountain-climb-ing (including the as-jent of llunpehu, Xgauruhoe, and Tongariro),, botanising, and a general exploration of the country.
