WONDERFUL GISBORNE BAT.
$ AVERAGE OF G53 BUNS. (By Teleeraph—Press Association.) Gisborne, March 4. Something in the nature of a world's record stands to tho credit of L. M'Mahon, of Gisborne, captain of tho Wanderers' Cricket Club. In tho Saturday senior competition this season to,, date ho has been dismissed only onco, and up till last Saturday he had aggregated -191 runs, and consequently this stood as his batting average. On Saturday last ho played a brilliant innings for 101, not out, and consequently raised his aggregate and average for the season to a record of C 53 runs.
it is claimed hero that if the projected visit of a New Zealand team to Australia comes off this brilliant batsman and allround player should undoubtedly be included, as, on present form, he is unquestionably ono of the finest batsmen in the Dominion.
It may bo mentioned that the bowling which M'Mahon ha 6 to contend with is good average club bowling.
