Tho Chief Justice, Sir liobort Stout, who has returned from Wanganui, leaves Wellington on Friday for Nam'or to open the Supivmo Court sessions there. Mr. M. D. Honsby, of Carterton, and Mr. W. St. G. K. Wilson were yesterday admitted by Mr. Justice Sim as solicitor's of the Supreme Court: of New Zealand. Miss M. Jacob, assistant teacher at Otaki. Hiss Kowloy, relieving assistant at Eketahuna, and Mr. U. Hell, assistant at Kongokako. have resigned their appointments. Their resignations were accepted by the Wellington Education Board yesterday. The (own clerk (Mr. J. Tt. Palmer) leaves on n trip (o Svilnrv on Friday next. During his absence Mr. K. Tart will be acting town clerk. Gay bunting-including the Commonwonllh ensign—was down from the local warehouse of Messrs. Sargood, Son, and I'won yesterday, in honour of the marriage of Mr. Ewen, which took place at Dunedin yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. It. Kendal, of London, loft Wellington yesterday on a tour of tho Hot Lakes district. , Mr. Henry Baldwin, who contested the Mayoralty of tho Hutt last year, will be a candidate once moro in April. Mr. Leon Cohen, of Molesworth Street, for many years connected with musical societies in Wellington, has been appointed local secretary for the Trinity College of Music, London.
Sir John Nutting left for Ohakune yesterday at mill-day. From thero he will proceed to Taumarunui to catch the river boat for Wanganui. Ho afterwards will visit W.iirakei, Eotorua, and Auckland. Upon receiving the resignation by Mr. J. S. Tounniit, M.A., B.Sc, of liis appointment as Inspector of Schools in the Wellington Education District, in order to take up his new position as principal of the Wellington Training College, tho Wellington Education Board, at its meeting yesterday placed on record, bv resolution, its high appreciation of Mr. Tcnnant's services while a member of tho inspectorate. Mr. Temiant's appointment to the position of Principal of (he Wellington Teachers' Training College has been received from the Minister for Education by the board. Mr. 'fennant's appointment: carries with it tho position of Lecturer in Education at Victoria College. Mr. H. H. Tompsitt, manager of tho To Aro House Drapery Company, leaves on a trip to tho Old Country next month. Ho will bo accompanied by Mrs. Tompsitt. At yesterday's meeting of tho Wellington Education Board Messrs. D. M'Kenzie and 0. London wero reappointed tho board's representatives on the l'etono Technical School Board. Lieutenant Ivon Stondish, son of Mr. A. Stanilish, of New Plymouth, who is undergoing a courso of instruction at Aldershot, lias passed tho examination for captain. Archdeacon Grace was among the passengers who left Lyttolton by the Himitangi on her last trip to the Chatham Islands. His namo was omitted from the telegraphed list from Christchurch. Mr. Kobt. M'Nab was a passenger for Wellington by tho Pateena last evening.
