TECHNICAL SCHOOL.

A meeting of tho Wellington Technical School Board was held last evening, Mr. D. Robertson presiding. The following were present:—Messrs. J. Smith, J. P. Luke, W." Allen, J."E. Fitsigerald, W. H. In regard to the recent Civil Service; examinations, the director's report stated that, out of the IG4 Wellington students who had onter'ed, 70 (or'42{ per cent.) were students of the Wellington Technical School.' In some instances the entries had I>een very small, this being owing to the fact that tho examinations were held in the middle of tho Fchool rear. The director (Mr. La Trobi?) thought that, if the examinations were held at the end of the year, there would be more entries. Lost year 460 certificates of proficiency were granted in city and suburban schools. Some 210 students had been admitted to the 6chool with certificates of proficiency gained last December. Many of these students came from the country, and probably over one-third of tho children who hod gained proficiency certificates attend either the day or evening elnsses of the school. At present tho total entries of tho free place students this year is 333 juniors and 153 seniors, and a large number haw still to come in. To date some 325 paving students hsd paid fees. The folkiwini appointments were eonfirmed:—Mr. William Ernshaw, assistant in engineering class: Mr Silver, nssjstant in evening electrical class; Miss Jo?.s, luwistait in domestic economy section and cooking.
