A TELEGRAM FROM THE GENERAL. The following telegram from General Godloy Ims been received by Sir Joseph Word (Minister for Defem's):— "Tiio first infantry, cairns in the Dominion, under tho now, scheme, havo been most successful. . Colonel Head, who has been north, reports that the spirit shown and instruction gained at the camp of the Gth Hauraki Regiment was all that' can bo desired, and I havo the same to report of the 4th Otngo Regiment here. In spite of very bad weather, the new men havo all taken tlio greatest interest in tlio work, and finished up their" week's soldiering by marching 15 miles into Dunedin without casualties in a style which would have done credit to a regular battalion. I think it would have very good effect if you would make this public." .-
