CHARGE AGAINST A LAD.

At the Supreme Court to-day a charge against a seventeen-year-old lad, Arthur Wnlding, arising out of the shooting case on tho steamer Wakatere nt the Thames on January 7 was heard by Mr. Justico Edwards. Accused was charged (1) with causing actual bodily harm, under ' circumstances that would have amounted to manslaughter had death ensued; and (2) with assault, causing actual bodily harm. Accused pleaded not guilty. The jury returned a verdict of guilty on the first count. The foreman stated that the jury regretted to have to find the boy guilty, as they considered the affair to bo purely accidental. "His Honour: It was not purely accidental. It was negligence. His Honour ordered the boy to come up for sentence when called upon, and ordered him to pay costs amounting to ,£3O 155.. no action for collection to be taken without an order of the Court.
