MIRAMAR COUNCIL.
A meeting of the Mirnmar Borough Council was held at the Miramar Town Hall last evening. The Mayor (Mr. J. Brodie) presided. The following councillors wore- present: Messrs. Richards, Telford, Bell, Bowie, and Stone. At a meeting of the Water Supply and Drainage Committee, held on February 13, it was decided to purchase fire plug's and surface-boxes. In connection with the power station and electric light schemes, the Finance Committee decided, nt a meeting held on February 11, to approach the Government for a loan of JiIO.OOO for (hat purpose. - The Public Works Department have been asked to inspect the Miramar Avenuo tramway work, which was completed on January 29, and to certify to the line being safe for traffic. The metalling for the road, which is being carried out by the Wellington Harbour Board, is nearly completed. The road will subsequently be opened for traffic. A return forwarded to the Valuation Department rcgurding building permits issued during the past year shows that permits were issued for (.ho erection of thirty new dwellings. .£19,802 is the total' estimated cost of the new buildings.
