It may be trie uiat it is only reimbursing this man 1 may be only one case; Imt, may be' other players can do as well if ho does not care to play." Mr Luckie: "I am opposed to that. This man could not afford to go otherwise, so it is only putting him on an equal footing with others. It is on" - putting him on an equal footing with men who are getting a monthly salary. 1 dent see why a man should bo penalised because, owing to tho nature of his employment, he cannot' afford to play unless recompensed for time lost. I don t see that a few pounds to the association can affect the principle." A member: "This is the only man who has stuck us up for years." Another member: "Yes,, but for a similar reason other members have not played at all."
The chairman: They were employers. U e have not seen fit to make a distinction m favour of employers. That is how far your principles go. Mr. Jl'Kcnzie: I object to that rema,J- „ i t , ls a matter of principle. I flout think the association should nay anyone at all until it can afford to do so.
