(From Our Special Correspondont.) Palmerston, February 13. Tho pageant fair in aid of the' funds of the High and Technical Schools, appears to be running a fairly successful course. YeMenlny niiernnon n baby show was held, and nearly fifty entries were made. District Xurse Loiiergan officiated as judge, with the following results:— Baby under six months, Mrs. Price; under twelve months, Mrs. C. founders; under eighteen months, Mrs. W. Cutler; under iwo years, Mrs. C. N. Taplin. Members of the Palmerston Swimming Club, who took part in the sports at Dnnneyirke yesterday, captured nearly all the prizes, winning fourteen first prizes and eleven seconds. ]'. Stevens and Robbie were conspicuous, each winning live events. Examinations for four scholarships at the Technical School, donated by the T'almerston Workingmeii's Club, and open to scholars who have obtained competency certificates at local schools, take place next week. Miss Anderson Hughes gave an illustrated lecture on "Kgypt and Palestine" at the Municipal Hall last night. Mrs. 11. Mowlem presided. Miss Ttnnlics wns subsequently entertained at St. Andrew's Hall.
