February 12. 1.5 a.m.) London, February 11. Mr. Justice Darling, summing up in Hie Grnsse case, urged the jury nut to act in a spirit of vengeance. In sentencing the prisoner, his Honour said espionage tended to inflame hostile feeling boltveon notions, and might lead to war. The continuance of peace demanded the cessation of such provocations. Severe punishment was tho only deterrent. The "Daily Chronicle" stales that the sentence was harsh, and that Mr. .lustier Darling treated the spy as a hardened criminal.
