MIRAMAR COUNCIL.

At the meeting of tho Miramar Borough Council, held at the Miramar Town Hall last night, the Mayor, Sir. J. Brodil and Councillors liiehards, Telford, Bell, Stone, and Bowie were present. The question of extending the running of the freight-car to Miramar and Seatoun was discussed, and a letter from Mr. S. Richardson, Tramway Engineer, was read.—lt was decided to allow tho car to run for six months free of charge. The tramway returns on the Miramar lino from April 1, 1911, to January 5, 1912, showed a loss of .£3ll 15s. 7d. On the Soatoun line there was a gain of .£IG 4s. Ltd., thus showing a loss on tho two lines of .£2f>l lis. 3d., and deducting from that .£lls 14s. for concession tickets, the total loss on both lines to January 5, 1912, stands at <£U9 17s. 3d. Mr. R. E. Mcstayer, C.E., in his report on the progress of the works for the past month, said that tho cast-iron stubbing!; and 'ejectors for the first and second stations had been delivered, but that some of them hod !*>on broken in transit. Messrs. Hughes and Lancaster had been informed of this by cable, and asked to replace them as soon as possible. This, however, would not to any great oxtc-nt allay the work as the fittings were interchangeable. Tho second shipment for the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth stations were due on February 18. The contract for the construction of the ejector stations had been let to Messrs. Sanders Bros., and work had already commenced. The Reatonn stations arc expected to lie begun next week, and most of the steel sewage and cast-iron airmains on the Scatoun portion have been completed._ An anplicntion to pay Bs. 9d. was received from the Municipal Association of New Zealand, bcins the Miramar Council's portion of .£SO for the expenses of the "King's I'oad case," taken before (be Court of Appeal last year. An order was made to pay the amount.
