MISSIONS TO SEAMEN.
There was a largo audience ah Hie Missions to Seamen Institute on Wednesday evening, when an enjoyable concert was held. Mr. V. S. Shell, missioner, occupied the chair. Tim following contributed items to the programme:—Mrs. Hutching*, .Misses Leiz, MoncriolV, W. Shell, Glasson, Messrs. Tickles, Ma c on, Carter, Bates, and Culverwell. Miss Moncrieff and Mr. Carter acted as accompanists. A singing competition was held, and a conundrum competition was won by sailors from ships in port. During the evening, Mr. A. L. Herdman, M.l'., presented a letter of commendation, on behalf of the Koyal Humane Society of New Zealand, to Mr. J. S. Smith, i'or'saving Guy I'ickney from drowning in Wellington Harbour on December 11, 11111. The performers were accorded a hearty vote of thanks at the conclusion of the concert.
