fr . TKE COUNTRY'S RESPONSE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Auckland, January 25. General Godley, who is at present in Auckland, states that, in the matter of Territorial registration . now completed, there had been a splendid and sympathetic response. The registration in the Auckland province bore uivourable eompiti'ison with any other province, and everyone liable to service in the Territorial Army, with Hie exception only of those physically unfit, would forthwith commence training. Despite rumours which had circulated to the contrary, the General said that there would be absolutely no other oxcmplions, and the scheme, as originally intended, was to lo one of universal training. It would take four years to bring the strength of the Territorial Army up to the required standard of 30,000, but this year would see 22,000 young Xcw Zealandei's in the Territorial ranks, and each succeeding year would swell Ihe number until the .10,000 mark was reached.
