WAIPOUA SALEYARDS.

The saleyards between the two Wal» pona bridges were reopened yesterday morning by Messrs. J.' Macintosh nnd Co., who havo recently established themselves, in business in Masterton. There was a large attendance of buyers and the public, and some very good" stock were submitted under the hammer.

Mr. l'\ Evans, the firm's auctioneer, before beginning selling operations, made k few remarks to those present. He said his firm intended to do absolutely straight business. Vendors and buyers would find that if they stuck to the firm the firm would etick to the deal, and give them a fair deal. There was certainly no animosity between his firm and the other auctioneering establishments in Masterton. "If wo can help the Solway people we will do so," said Mr. Evans, "and I am sure they will help us." (Hear, hear.) Now was the time for those who were in favour of the reopening of the Waipoua yards to' ehoir their appreciation of Messrs. Macintosh and Co.'s miction. He remarked that the present sale was the first the firm had held in New Zealand. The first line—2s fat ewes—was then submitted and realised 12s. 10d., the Gear Company being the purchasers.
