TWENTY-FOUR DROWNED.

THE STEAMER TATKRA, Bj Teißfrrash—Press Association—Conyrlcht Sydney, January 22. The captain and a number of the crew of the steamer Tathra (owned by the Illawarra and South Coast Steam Navigation Company), which recently foundered at sea, have arrived hero. Their story adds little to the cabled details. There were seventy persons aboard the steamer, which was running back to port before a sudden storm. A big sea •broke over and swamped the. steamer. SEo settled and sank. The first and second boats got clear. Many who were still aboard were thrown into the sea, some being picked up after being for hours in the water.

Twenty-four were drowned.
