Ismail Faik Bey, a journalist, has been bastinadoed for publishing articles criticising the overbearing attitude of the Committee of Union and Progress. His father, editor of an Angora newspaper, has been arrested for publishing an open letter of protest. He was whipped senseless. There have been similar acts of tyranny in other parts of Turkey.
