A traveller by an Australian liner writes to "The Times" stating that the Board of Trade licensed the vessel to carry 580, whereas she actually carried 85 first-class, 810 steerage, and a crew of 200. At the utmost the boat's capacity was 710. The writer states that all the emigrant ships are similarly over-crowded since assisted passages were started.
