Ford M'Carthy, who was arrested on a charge of ahductiou and subsequently released on tho ground of mistaken identity, is a director of tho United States Rubber Corporation, and reputed to bo a millionaire. The American Embassy, acting on the information of amateur detectives in New York, ordered the arrest in tho belief that he was a man ivho "jumped" bail on a chargo of abduction.
