ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
FATAL FALL ON S.S. PAPAEOA. IBr Telccrapb.-Press Association I Dunedin, December 16. Evidence given at the inquest on James Craig, who died as the result of au acci-' dent sustained on the steamer Paparoa, was to the effect that deceased was a widower, and leaves a family of five—the two youngest being st school. The coroner found that, if it had been known that one of the hatches was likely to fall down the hatchway, the hatches would no doubt have been placed on deck instead on top of those hatches which had not been removed from thn hatchway. It was a case of being wise after the event. The usual ronrsp, however, had been followed, and thorn was no evidence of disobedience of orders nor anything to show that the cause of deceased's death hud been other than tiuroly accidental. No blame was attachable to anyone. SUDDEN" DEATH. Christchurcli, December l(i An elderly man named William Henry Border, residing at St. Albans, was fouuel dead this morning.
