WATCHMAN G.JI. CO. The manager oS the Watchman G.M. Co, rep®rts:—During tho past week the drive on the parallel reef has been advanced a further distance of eight feet, making a total of 24 feet 6 inches from the starting point. The hanging-wall portion, for the last few feet, has inorensed in size from two foot to three feet, leaving very little mullock between the hanging and footwali Dortiouff, and, to all appearances, will make one body. A clay scam has como in on . tho hnnging.wa.il, end i 3 running witn the reef. At this point the nuartz has an improved appearance, Sulphides and j.incblend are showing more freely- The ?andstone encasing tho roof is of a- good claps. The placing of new timbers on the Pun•ediu Roof has almost been completed.there being one more set to lie put in. Monday next should rco this work completed, when two shifts will be required laving points and roads under the passes. The rise will be started on Wednesday next. WAITANGI CONSOLIDATED. Mr. Weston, the Wellington shareholders' director, attended the meeting of the Waiting! CoPFolidat-ed G. 7.1. Co. on Wednesday last- at Auckland. The proceedings passed off satisfactorily. Dr. C. Prenderprwt Knight was elected as a second Wclhneton director. The present state of development at the mine is interesting. Tho management 13 now sinking No. 2 winze in No. 3 level, nut down in the hanging-wall of tho Waitangi Eecf. In this, before further sinking was stopped, •payable values were pot .in tho portion of the reef entered. The winzo will now be sunk In tho country rock beside tin hang-ine-v/all to expedite MlO work, and crosscut* will bo nut int-o the reef at. intervals to test its value. The work of sinking No. 1 winzo will bo resumed as soon 05 hands aro-available. The winne is 126 feet cast of the No. 2 winze. It is going down on tho footwali of the reef, and it wag in thin winze that (when stopped by the water) rich specimen stone wo a exposed. Somo doubt exists ns to the identity of tho reef recently intersected by tho low-level tunnel—a?j to whether it is tho main or a "stranger." Who.n the low-lovc.l tunnel reaches a spot directly under No. 1 v,*inse, the management will .have to crosscut ca°t in order to set the Woitangi Repf at this level. If this reef maintains the dip which it had in the upper levels, tho management will foavo to drive about 225 feet. DREDGING. fSf Tc!«ffrapb. Pre«s Association.! Dunodln, December 15.
