Wong Wah, Wong Ivoon, Wong She and Co., were cacli fined .£l, and Sinn On Tio and Co., Yeo Chong Wing nnd Co., and Wong Yung Chong nnd Co., each .£2. Tho charge was one of having employed a shop assistant after nino o'clock in the evening. Tho police stated that tho Chinese had had the Jaw explained to them, but had said that they did not understand. Mr. Brandon, who represented tho defendants, stated that tho matter had since been explained to tho Chinese by their country's consul. They would all plead guilty. ROAMING STOCK. For permitting stock to wander. James Bradley was Heed 10s., Alfred, Bradley 10s., Henry Byrenton 10s., .Tames Clark 10s., Charles Harding ordered to pay 9s. costs, Edward Hayos fined 10s., Carl Larson 55., Georgo Smith 10s., and Reginald Welsby 10s. OTHER CASES. For loaving a vehiclo unattended in Mein Street, Albert Pudney was fined. 10s. Andrew MacMillan was prohibited. For insobriety David Crossly was fined £1. Donald M'Donald was fined 10s. for not having kept an approved holiday book in connection with his restaurant business. A charge against Sainuel Frederick Green of having deserted from the s.s. Remuera was dismissed. THE TRAM CONDUCTOR. Georgo W. Van Slyke was convicted of an assault on Alexander James M"Donald, a tram conductor. No fine was mado.! Defendant's explanation wais that his breach was not in any way intentional.
