ENTERTAINMENTS.

o . THE NEW THEATRE. There wero crowded attendances at the New Theatre continuous picture entertainment on .Saturday afternoon, and scores of people were unable to Rain admittance in the evening. Among the most attractive subjects are: "Venico" (an exquisitely coloured travel item), "Making a Ger- • tnan Newspaper" (a complete and interesting industrial series), "The Luko of Cfarda" (a fino .scenic study), "Alain of Serigny" (a stirring dramatic portrayal), and "A Savage .Girl's Devotion (a Bison exclusive drama). The pictures will be shotrnf rom 11 a.m. to-day till 11 o'clock to-night. The usual change is announced for to-morrow. THE. KING'S THEATRE. To-night the West's and Royal Picture Proprietary are again to the fore with another exclusive picture 3500 ft. in length, entitled 'Tools of Society." This is said to be one of the most ambitious and daring pictures, .vet put upon the screen. It is crammed full of incident of an absorbing nature from beginning to end, and grips attention as only a thrilling story can. Indeed, it contains more incident than many a three-volume novel. The racecourse scene alone is -said to be well worth teeing, as it is a real racecourse, with its masses of people in the various rings, the stands full of spectators, including several characters in the drama, and this scene is really part of the story, for the hero, riding in a steeplechase, sustains injuries, whilst tho woman he' loves looks on from the reserved stand. This is only one of tho many thrills that occur during the development of this sensational story. Other star items will also bo shown. The King's Theatro Orchestral Band will render special selections. KINEMACOLOR. Highly eulogistic notices continue to arrive concerning the results of kinemacolor in other parts of the world, and great interest is being manifested in the inaugural exhibition at the Theatre Royal this evening. An exchange says: "There is no comparison between kinemacolor and the best black and white kinematography. The former adds great realism to the pictnre, and stands out with marked superiority of all other tinted or coloured films." Another iour nal states that "a kinemacolor subject might well be taken for a chromo of a masterly painting." ■ A fine variety of subjects has been selected for this evening's programme, and kinemacolor will be seen to the best advantuge. _ A marked feature of tho new process is its claim to being genuine. No hand painting or stencilling of films is introduced, everything being photographed in natural colours,' and similarly reproduced. Tom Burrows, Hie champion clubFwinecr of tho world, has been engaged by Hayward's, Ltd., for a tour of Nev? Zealand. The athlete, who will endeavour to break his own record in each town visited, will perforin in connection with the firm's picture shows.
