The Norwegian barque Sirins, 955 tone, is now on her way from Dolagoa Bav, South Africa, to Westport, to load coal for New Britain. Word has been received that Mr. P. G. Brady, of Dunedin, and late of the Union Steam Ship Company, sat for and obtained his master's certificate at Melbourne recently. About 5 a.m. on Saturday the Union Company's tue Terawhiti arrived off Westport from Wellington with the barque Mataura iu tow. The journey was accomplished in 60 hours. After handing the barque over to the Westport Harbour Board's tug. the Terawhiti left for Wellington, and arrived here at 2.25 a.m. yesterday. . A now rudder for the steamer Gcrtio was taken to Foxton by the Queen of the South yesterday. The Gcrtio is expected at Wellington on Wednesday, and will be placed on the Patent Slip. Duo at Wellington from Napier on or about Wednesday, the Blackball Company's steamer Ngaherc will be placed on the Patent Slip for cleaning and painting. Consignees of cargo by the Rosamond arc asked to note that the vessel will not leave Wellington for Picton, Nelson, New Plymouth, and Ouchunga until Tuesday of this week. The vessel is expected at New Plymouth to-day, and at Wellington late to-night or early to-morrow morning. On Wednesday the Haupiri is expected at Wellington from Auckland, via East Coast bays and ports. As the Union Company's steamer Koonya was inward bound to Wellington yesterday, she passed the Maoriltind Steamship Company's Holmdale in Cook Strait at 4 p.m. The latter vessel was bound from Gisnornc to Greymouth with a cargo of live stock, and wiehed to be reported "All well."
