Napier Wedding. A wedding in which taken ' was celebrated m Mattbe Church, Hastings, on \S ednesda> alter noon, when Miss piSi Wellof Mr. and Mrs. Robert ell wooS of '"Brobklands," was Mr. J. A- -Butts, eldest son ot Dr. and Airs. C. E. Betts, ot Woodbridge, Suffolk, England: The Rev. J. hurst conducted the, service, bride, who was given away by her father, v<Jre a handsome gown ot while ducho»o satin, trimmed with beautitul lace_ and pearls, the long train, also being finished with heavy pearl embroider). A Juliet cap and long tullo veil, with clusters ot orange blossoms over each car, was a;so worn, and she carried u bouquet of white sweet neas and asnaragus fern, presented by Mrs. H. B. Tycrs. There were five bridesmaids, tho crnet being Miss Ruby Wellwood (sister ot tho bride), and Miss .Eileen Irvine, of Danucvirke, both wearing pretty frocks ot pale pink crepe do Chine, trimmed with silk insertion and fringe, and large black velvet hats, with- a ■ white wing drooping over the left shoulder. 'I hey carried crooks tied with black ribbon ami black velvet Peggy bags. Mr. Otway Wehwood was tho best mnu, and Mr. Geoige Hartshorn was the groomsman. Mrs. Wcllwoud, tho mother ot the bride, was in a handsome black silk gown trimmed with white insertion, and a chiffon toque with black ostrich tips. A very large number of guests were afterwards entertained at tho home ot the bride's parents, and later in the afternoon Mr. and Mr*. Betts left for NewPlymouth and Auckland, the brido wearl ing a pearl grey cloth coat and skirt, and grev satin straw hat, lined with pale pink and trimmed with a grey lancer plume.

Another Napier Wedding. On 'Wednesday, in- St. Augustine's Church; Napier, tho wedding took place verv quietly of.'Miss Edith Hartree, onlj; daughter of t. and Mrs. H. Hartreo, ot Ngaroto, and Mr. Ernest Richard Dampney, of Mangatutu station, and eldest son of the lato Mr. R. Dampnoy, Melclash Court, Doriet, England. The Rev. fcVnofl (Tuke was the officiating clerp--maiir- The brido was given away by her father, and was attended by Miss Dunnago, of .Patoko, as bridesmaid. .. Mr. Charles T.. Dampney was .the ; best, man. A reception was afterwards held at the Masonic Hotel.

Conversazione in the Fine Arts Academy. The important business which had brought together in Wellington a number of architects from the principal centres of the Dominion having been concluded, tho. Council, of the New Zealand -Institute of /Architects gave a most enjoyable, conv2rsa?ioue in tho Academy of fine Arts iii Whitmore Street yesterday afternoon, several of the visiting delegates, in.addition to the friends of tho members of . the', council being present. The academy building is a delightful placoin which, to hold such functions, and on this occasion it presented a particularly charmins appearance. The floor had been carpeted in green, with a centre of dark crimson felt, while quantities of palms, foliage, and bowls of arums gave a very decorative effect to the room. A number of small tables, on -.which"tea'was served, with longer ones in the centre, were all artistically .arranged with loses, large yellow daisies, and dolieately-coloured ixias. Most delicious ices were also served.

The visitors, as they arrived, were re> eeived bv the president of the institute, Mr, Atkins,-and-Mrs;-Atkins, tho latter' wearing a striped black and wliito silk frock, with, a cream loco yoke, and a black hat with plumes. Among those present were Mrs. Monntt'ord (Christchurch), who was wearing a dark blue coot and skirt, bronze green feather-bo'i, and large black hat with green plumes; Mrs. Chatfteld, in biscuit-coloured foulard, with crcam laco yoke, and large black plumed hut; Mrs. Goodcr, in blue, with black hat and plumes; Mrs. ATOrczor, black costume and black bon- • net; Miss M'Gregor, Rroy coat and skirt, and heliotrope hat; Mrs. Cricbton. grey costumo and black hat; Mrs. G. Hume, grey coat and skirt and black hat; Miss Mander (Auckland), cream corduroy coat and skirt, and hat with roses; Mrs. Mestaver, grev costume and black lionnet; I Miss Mestaver, navy blue coat and skirt, <md black bat with wbito lace; Dr. riatts-Mills,. dark blue costumo and; red hat; Mis. Herdman, cream coat and skirt, and.whito hat with white wings; Mrs. Butts, black velvet, braided, costume, and black bonnet with white osprey plumes; Mrs. H. M. Gore, grey striped costume and heliotrope hat, wreathed with shaded roses; Mrs. Marioribanks, in grey and grev plumed hat; Miss Butts, cream frock and large flowerwreathed hat; Miss C. Butts, brown coat and skirt, and brown hat; Miss Cobb (Melbourne), brown costume and brown toque; Mrs. E. W. Holmes, grey coat and skirt and black plumed hat; Mrs. Harper, grey costume and black hat with black plumes; Mrs. J. E. Hume, bisiuit-coloured costumo and black hat, wreathed with ros.es; Mrs. Salmond, dark blue coat and skirt, and hat to match. Also, Archdeacon Harper, Mr. and Mrs. Bennie, Mr. Pfinty, Mr. Mount ford, Mr. Mestavbr, Mr. Herdman, M.P., Mr and Mrs. Lawrence, Mr. Crichton, Air! Chatfleld, Mrs. and Miss Charleswortli, Mr., Mrs., and Miss bchwartz, Dr. Arnold Izard, Major Hume, Mr. AVisetiian (Auckland), Mr. Hooper (Dunedin), Mr. Broderick (Invercargill), Mr. Burnside fDmfedin), Miss H. M'Lean, Mr. Wales (Dunedin), Mr. and Mrs. ; Beaucliamp-Platts, and Mrs. M'Lean. i Not very often have peoplo had the ' pleasure of hearing such, delightful music as was played by the string band, stationed at one end of tho room. It was decidedly a feature of the afternoon.
