St. John Ambulance Collection. A meeting of ladies interested iu the street collection to be made by the Ambulance Association on Saturday, December 2. will bo held in the Mayor's room at the Town Hall next Thursday. Mrs. T, M. Wilford will preside. Tho objects to which the collection will be devoted this yew me fairly ambitious. One quarter will bo given to supplement tho fund for the providing of permanent quarters for tho association; one quarter will be added to the nurses' comforts fund, from which are supplied necessaries for tho sick poor in cases where visiting nurses find tho cupboard bare; one quarter will be given to the Ambulance Brigade, to bo .used ill tho purchase of appliances and equipment, and for other purposes to foster ambulance work; and the other quarter will be held in the general account out of which the cost o'i all examinations has to be defrayed. Lady Ward arrived in Wellington from tho south yesterday morning. Mrs. Kitcat, who lias been on a visit to Wellington, returned to Martou Yesterday. Miss l eist, who has been spending soiue days in Wellington, returned to Masterton yesterday. Miss M'Kay (Martinlorough) is a visitor to Wellington. -Miss Brown, organist of the Brooklyn Baptist Cburch, was presented on Monday evening with .1 gold pendant and chain, as a mark of appreciation by tho congregation of her services to tlfo church during the past iivo years.
