j AXX UAL MEETING. ; The annual meeting of thn French Lit- | orary Club was held at the Arts Club last evening. The report for 1011 states that the third -session of the club's existence had been ftorkeiiJjjiits.'.. registration under the Unclassified Societies Act, 1008.' This -step-had-been-takon-owing to tho grow-~-ing".pppnlflritj".of rthe club and' the:-in-crease of its membership. The names on the roll now stood at 83, and the conditions othorwiso were very satisfactory. Tho programmes of the session' had been specially attractive, and thanks were duo to Mr. Hudson for preparing them. Thanks were also due to Mr. Duflou for his unsparing efforts for the -welfare of tho club generally, much of its success boinfr due to him. An expression of appreciation was shown when the council i ecommonded the names of Messrs. Duflou and Hudson to the Alliance Francaiso as members worthy of recognition. The inauguration of a library had been another 'successful feature, and thanks were due to the following contributors of books:— Madame Bocufvo, Miss Lockic, Miss Gwen LoCkie, Mr. Lattoy, Mr. Adamson, Captain Barclay, Miss Van Stavcren, Miss R. Van Staveren, Miss Pollock, Miss Phillips, aud others. i Tho council' recorded their thanks to those members or friends who had con- | tribiitcd, in,'various ways, to tho club's evenings, and special mention was made of the help given by Mesclames Duflou, Declene, and M'Phail, Dr. Kennedy, Fathers Gondringcr and Schaefer, Professor Von Zeidlitz. Messrs. Duflou, Mentvalh, Loughnun, Bigg. Hudson, Bendall, Laltey, \Vilson, and Captain Barclay. The balance-sheet showed a credit balanco of l"s. Gd. Tho election of officers resulted in tho following being appointed:—Patron, Mr. J. M'lnfoshi president, tho Hon. J. Kigg; vice-presidents, Mr. S. Menteath and Captain Barclay; treasurer, Mr. Adamson; librarian, Mr. Harrisou; co-secretaries, Mi-. Baldwin and Mr. Hudson. Messrs. Bullou, Hudson, and Lattey were elected life members. It was also decided to shorten the sessions, making them now covor a period of six months (April to September inclusive) instead.of nine, as formerly.
