The Governor and suite will visit Nelson on Monday, November 20, via Blenheim, and stay till Thursday. His Excellency specially desires to inspect tho Motueka fruit farms, states a I'rees Association telegram. The Hon. ,T. A. Millar is expected from tho South next Sunday. In tho meantime the Hon. D. Buddo is the only Minister in town and he has arranged to leave for Canterbury to-morrow night. The other members of the Cabinet are away in tho electorates which they hope to retain or conquer. Mr. W. A. Woodger, who was a member of the athletic team sent to England competing at the Festival of Empire Sports, returned to Wellington oil Saturday. He was met by several members of the Festival Committee and given a hearty welcome home. It will be remembered that Woodger contracted pneumonia 011 the eve of the sjwts and was, in consequence, unable to compete at the meeting. He is now well again, but doubts his ability to get himself "wound up" sufficiently to defend the title (100 yds. champion) at the coming Australasian championship meeting. The funeral of the late Mr. Win. Guiso took place yesterday afternoon and was attended by a large number of friends, including representatives of the Victoria Howling Club, tho Antipodean Lodge (1.0.0. F., M.U.), and several of Messrs. Robert Hannah and Co.'s employees. The service at St. Mary of the Angels' Church was conducted by the Rev. Father Tymons, who also officiated at Karori. Nows has been received of the death in Australia of Mr. Arthur O'Ncil O'Donalioo, civil engineer, formerly of Wellington, but lately in charge of tho survey district of Maitland, New South Wales. Tho deceased was at one timo in partnership with Mr. Seaton, civil engineer, of litis oity, and was also in the employ of tho Government. He loaves a widow, two sons and a daughter, who reside at Khandallai. Mr. T. Helyer, vice-presidont of tho Cooks' and Waiters' Organisation Committee for tho past three years, is to be presented with a memento by the union at a committee meeting next week. . This is the result of a unanimous vote taken at the half-yearly meeting last evening, when it was decided that his services to the union should lie recognised, and to that end a sum of money was voted to tho i purchase of a suitable present. Mr. Henry F. Allen, secretary of tho Wellington Industrial Association, is leaving on a month's trip to Australia on Friday next. Ho will be accompanied by Mrs. 'Allen. Captain Rassam, adjutant of tho sth Regiment, is at present nil inmate of a private hospital. He is suffering from appendicitis.
