HOSTILE CHURCH MANIFESTO. (Br Telcsrraoli.—l'ress Association.) Auckland, November 13., A manifesto issued by the Auckland Ministers' Association dealing with tho objects of the New Zealand Sports Protection League was read in all tho Trotcsaut Churches on Sunday. The manifesto states: "The league is lighting for tho restitution of tho bookmaker, extension of the curse of the tota.lis.ator and betting, and the multiplication of racing days. It would go even further and extend totalisator permits to coursing matches." Tho document adds:—"Football, cricket, hockey, golf, and other amateur sports might easilv follow in (ho extension." The manifesto appeals to church people to voto only for Parliamentary candidates who give definite, satisfactory answers oil (ho subjects of the abolition of betting and gambling, maintaining Sunday as a day of rist, and the prohibition of prize fights.
