Aclaud, Under-Secretary to tho Foreign Office, in reply to a question regarding tho commercial treaty made with Italy iu 1883, said Britain was seeking to amend tho treaty, in order to secure for tho self-governing Dominions tho power of separate withdrawal that they enjoy under all recent treaties.

Sir Edward Grey, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, in the House of Commons announced that the Government was approaching Argentina, Columbia, Denmark, France, Mexico, Morocco, Norway, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, and Venezuela, with a view to amending the commercial treaties with them in the interest of the self-governing colonies, as explained by Mr. F. D. Acland, Under-Sec-retary to the Foreign Office, yesterday.
