■Messrs. Doloetv and Co,, Ltd.. report having held their usual sale at Waikanac on Tuesday. There was a good yarding of both sheep.and cattle. Bidding at auction for sheep was dull, but practically the whole vardingwas nuitted after the sale. Cattle were in Rood demand, especially all classes of young cattle, and a total clearance was effected. Woolly hoggets, 12s. to 135.; small shorn hoggets, 7s. 7d. to 6s. lid.; light fat wethers, 17s. 3d.; 18-moaths steers, £2 16s. to'£3 Bs.; yearling steers, £1 155.; fat cows, £5 12s. 6d.; young heifers, £2 95.; bulls, £5 ss. Messrs/Dalgcty and Co., Ltd., report having held a successful special sale of hoggets and fat cattle on account of Mr. J. E. Jt'Donald, and other clients, at Levin on Wednesday. About 70C0 sheep and 460 fat bullocks were yarded. The line of bullocks (which is probably the largest lino of fat cattle ever offered in one line in the Dominion) reflected credit on the management, of Mr. J. H. M'Donald, the owner, being all in flrst.-e.lass condition, and carefully drafted. There was a large attendance of buyers from all parts of the Dominion, and the auctioneers are pleated to report that, after good competition, the whole of the yarding of sheep, with tho exception of a pen of about 230 small hoggets, changed hands at prires satisfactory to the vendors. There was an average yarding, and prices were the same as in late quotations. Best dairy cows and heifers sold at from £7 IDs. to £9 155.; others, £5 to £6 10s.; empty cows and heifers, £4 Is. to £5 45.; 18-month old heifers, £3 10s. to £4 7s; ewes and lambs, 9s. 9d. to 10s. 6d. At tho Albert yards on Friday, horses were yarded in larger numbers, and sold under steady competition at late rates. Heavy draught horses sold at from £32 to £46; medium draughts, £25 to £30; light harness horses and hacks, £6 to £17 IC-s.; ponies, £1 to £5.
