If Turkey will not acquiesce a prolonged war with tho danger of Balkan complications is inevilablo unless tho Towers firmly compel Turkey to swallow tho pill. THE LANDING AT TOBRUK. FORTS QUICKLY STORMED. Rome, October 11. After the firing of two rounds from tie warships' 12in. guns, a. company of Italian marines landed at Tobruk (Barca, Tripoli), and advanced on the forts. The Turks opened fire on the stormers, who quickly, under cover of a wall, forced an entrance and hoisted the Italian flag. The Turks retired under a continued fire from the Italians, who were posted 00. the neighbouring heights. A HAIL OP BULLETS. (Rec. October 13, 0.55 a.m). Rome, October 12. Details from Tobruk state that the landing boats encountered a hail of bullets. The soldiers and sailors jumped into the sea and waded ashoTe. They then answered the enemy's fire and made a bayonet charge.
SIXTY TRANSPORTS.
GREAT ITALIAN CONVOY. Rome, October 11. Elaborate precautions were taken in the dispatch of sixty Italian transports. The convoy of tho vessels presents a front extending oTer five miles. The night attack previously reported was merely a small skirmish. The Turks crept to the Italians' outposts, possibly with tho idea of cutting-off tho water supply. They left two dead. ; The first division of troops has disembarked. The Turks are gathering in the Gharian hills, where Arabs aro arriving from the Gebel region. GUN-RUNNING AT BENGHAZI (Roc. October 13, 0.55 a.m.) Rome, October 12. The Italians are finding that Benghazi has been tho centre of an extensive import trade in guns for the Senussi, Sahara,- and Wadai tribes. Measures have been adopted to stop the traffic. BULGARIA ALARMED. RESERVISTS CALLED OUT, (Rec. October 13, 0.55 a.m.) Vienna, October 12. Bulgaria is quietly mobilising the first lino of her reserves. She is profoundly dissatisfied with tho Porte's explanation regarding the Turkish reinforcements in Adrianoplo and .Macedonia. Advices from Skutari, in Northern Albania, state that tho Italians there have been informed that they will bo regarded as Ottoman subjects, and if they fail to comply with the law will be tried by court-martial. Advices from au apparently trustworthy source state that the Turks are laying mines in tho Dardanelles.
