FARMERS DEFENCE COMMITTEE.
(By Telegraph— Special Correspondent.) < Palmcrston, Ootober 5. A meeting of the Farmers' Defence Coin-' mittee of ho Farmer:)' 'Union was held to-day, Mr. J. Wilson presiding. The- directors of the Palmorston North Technical School notified the committeethat the- shearing classes wore formed, and that blade shearing, as well, as woolclassing and machine shearing, would be taught. It ,wns resolved that the ■vote of «E2O promised for theso classes- be passed for payment. A communication was received from thesuperintendent of manual and technical instruction for tho Wanganui Education Board, asking when the grant would bo available, as they intended t? start classes on ahecp shearing at an airly date. It was resolved that the .£2O promised for these- classed for the Wanganui Hoard bo paid when tho notification that classes wero formed and started-vis received, and that blade shearing must be included. Th-a union has also promised <£20 for {lasses at Masterton.
