Balsillio (Pa'lnierston North). . , ~ r Mr: David Jones, organiser for the i armors' Political Protection Federation, forwarded a.report of meetings addressed in various parts of the province, and a voto of thanks was accorded him. Tho Dominion secretary forwarded a ■reply received from' the banks statins that they could not see their way to altertho Saturday closing hours. . ' The proposal ot' the 'J'aranaki Executives looking to tho establishment, of farmers" land and estate agencies was discussed, and tho executive decided that l-hev would not Tecommend tho adoption of the scheme. A supply of the prize essays on 'Tho •Farmers' Union achievements: its position to-day. and its prospects." was received from tho Taranalu Executive, and it was decided to thank that executive for offering prizes for the essays. It 'was also decided to send copies to the branches for distribution. Fat Stock Railage. The Ekoiihuna branch forwarded a resolution: "That ths Tailway facilities for trucking fat stock .especially lambs, ■ were inadequate to moot the demands in that district, and this meeting'urges -tho executive to endeavour to obtain a sufficient supply from the Railway. Department for this season." It was pointed out'that tho position m Eketahuna. was far worse (this year than 3<ast, and thut some of tho farmers had been considerable losors through, the shortage of trucks. Tho motion was endorsed, and ordered to bo forwarded to tho Minister for RailA large number of,replies acknowledging tho union's protest against the Shearers' Accommodation Amendment Bill were (received from Ministers and members of tho House. Scholarships, A circular was received from tho Wangunui Education Board, asking tho union to provido one ot four scholarships of tho annual value of .£lO. Tho president spoko of the, valuable work of the Wanganui Board in fostering rural education, and referred to thn J'urra camp now being conducted at Itr. Shorfs farm. ' Several members also endorsed tlio good work which was. being done by the board. It was unanimously resolved to vote VEIO for a scholarship, and that the thanks of the union be forwarded to the Wangamti Board for the active interest which it had taken iu rural .education,. and that the executive appreciate the establishing of the camp and demonstration which was so capably 'being carried out, and hopes that it will endeavour to jnake it au annual affair. Sale of Seeds Bill. Tho Kengotca branch forwarded a resolution regarding tho Sale of Seeds Bill, this resolution being to tho effect that it was unsatisfactory. . Tho president stated that tho majority txf farmers were in favour of a Pure Seeds Bill, but tho percentage proposed in tho present Bill was far too high. After discussion, it was resolved to ask that the porccntane in Clauso 2 of the Bill should bo reduced to ono per cent., and a still further reduction be asked for in the caso of small grass seeds. Tho questions to parliamentary candidates, as drawn up by the Dominion Conference, were adopted, and it w;as arranged that they he. forwarded to tho candidates in tho AVcllington provincial elecV torates.
