FIELD EXPERIMENTS.
■Writing to Use Dannevirko A. and P. Association in reference ti> field experiments, Mr. G. S. Baylis, of the Agricultural Department, etates that so far ho has arranged two experiments with maize and two with lucerne. Mr. Baylis adds that a few more maize trials as a field for dairy cows, should be located on Ite various soils o£ !ho ])annevirk (Us-, trict, and he also states that lie would liko' to got a half-acre plot of lucerne undertaken on clean land by -a good farmer on land such as is found beyond • Piri Piri, with a gravel formation about three i'ect down. Some, variety trials of pew should also be undertaken on different soils, as much as the district would be greatly benefited by the growing of leguminous crops. The president remarked that lucerne was going to bo one of the coming fodders for and ho intended to put in an ■ experimental plot .when, he had liis land sufficiently prepared. Mr. Tnnsey (Mataniau) also stated his intention of growing this popular fodder crop.
