A general railway stoppage throughout Ireland' is threatened. Tho porters have already struck at Limerick, 'l'roops are being held in leadiness in Dublin. TIMBER STRIKE IN DUBLIN. London, September 17. Tho timber men in Dublin have struck, on account of tho masters declining to recognise tho Irish Transport Workors' ..Union. 1 Four hundred men in the goods department of the Great Southern-Western Railway at Kingsbridge havo also struck, declining to handle any timber. LABOUR EXCHANGE BOYCOTTED. London, September 17. The unemployed at Leicester are boycotting the Labour Exchanges, on tho ground that they (the unemployed) were eont after positions already filled, or that several wero sent after one job, which was given to the man accepting the lowest wage. : - POST OFFICE DISCONTENT. London, September 17. ' A campaign by the postal employees of the United Kingdom, with the object of securing redress of their 'grievances and an increase in pay, has been inaugurated at Glasgow. It is widely supported. It is declared that tho conditions of, the service are. intolerable. At a meeting it was resolved to urge the appointment of a House of Commons Inquiry Committee. BRISTOL MINING DISPUTE. London, September 17. Twelve hundred Bristol miners havo struck. They demand similar increases to those granted in the Somerset area. SPANISH DISPUTES.
Madrid, September 17. The members of the Labour.Federation at Saragossa hive struck in sympathy with the strikers .at Bilbao. Tho strikes at Malaga and Oviedo have ended. • NEWCASTLE WHEELERS' STRIKE. ' ; Sydney, September 18. The wheelers' notices at the New Lambton and Seapits mines have expired. Tho wheelers will not start to-day. This will largely add to the thousand minors already idle. The Newcastle trouble threatens to extend to other collieries in the near future. ' A HITCH OCCURS. (Rec. September IS, 11.10 p.m.) Sydney, September 18. A hitch has occurred in connection with the settlement of the wheathandlers' dispute; The shippers agreed to ■ increase tho handling rates, but the stevedores refused the increases. As a consequence (ho 'work of loading has not .been resumed." At a meeting of tho Seapit' Colliery wheelers it was decided to withdraw the notices, leaving the board tp'Wt'tle-Ulfc grievances. The pit continues working. STRIKERS AS CO-OPERATORS. Perth, September 18. The colliers on strike at the Collieburn colliery have accepted an offer by the Scottish Colliers', Company to take over and work the property as a co-operative concern. A company has been formed with 250 shares of .£IOO eaoh. It starts operations to-day.
