STAFF CHANGES.
AT DEFENCE HEADQUARTERS.
It is understood that tho appointment of Major Knox, Director of Supplies and Transport at General Headquarters, Wellington, to the position of QuartermasterGeneral of the .New Zealand Forces, will be gazetted this week. Hitherto this appointment has been bracketed with trat of the adjutant-generalship, and since the arrival in A'cw Zealand ot Major-General A. J. Godley, C.8., General Officer Com-mand-jig the Forces, the combined departments have been under the administration of Colonel A. W. Robin, C.8., officially designated the Adjutant and Quarter-master-General. As the new defence system has developed, the increasing demnds upon tho Quartermaster-General have rather overburdened the adjutantgDiieral's side of Colonel Robin's responsibilities, and created the necessity for a rearrangement of tho duties, thus bringing tho New Zealand General Stall organisation into-lino with the Imperial system. Major Knox's appointment will, it is further understood, carry with it tho local rank of lieutenaut,-colonel.
