Adams, A.1.A., has received the appointment of secretary and actuary to the Co-operative Assuranco Company, Ltd., of Australasia, which has its head office in Sydney. Mr. Adams was for many years in the actuarial branch of the Government Life Insurance Department, Now Zealand, and afterwards became manager of one of the branch offices of the New Zealand Insurance Company, a position he held for seven or eight years. Mr. Adams is a brother of Mr. ArthuT n. Adams, and son of a former Commissioner of Crown Lauds in New Zealand. At the Commercial Travellers' Club on Tuestlny evening Mr. B. J. Jacobs, who has severed his connection with the legal firm of Bell, Gully, Bell, and Myers to enter tile office of Mr. C. B. Loughnan, was farewelled by his former fellow-em-ployees and legal friends. During the evening lie was the recipient of a memento of esteem. Mr. Geo. Toogood is to leavo Wellington for England shortly 011 a six months' business visit. Mr. Toogood will travel via Canada, and it is likely that ho will leave either by the next San Francisco or Vancouver mail steamer. Mr. E. V. Luttrell, a very old resident of tho Gisborne district, died yesterday.— Press Association.
