AT. LEAST 1000 COMPETITORS,
A fairly full meeting of the committee of the New Zealand I_Wiia.'uL'jus ~,.ch'..v «as held last' nighty Dr. liard presided. The secretary (Mr. J. JJykts) reported that over 2300 text books and entry forms had boen lorwarded to intending competitors throughout the Dominion. Ho said that; judging from the entries which had been received, ho .considered there would be at least a thousand competitors. A number of church choirs were entering from Wellington, Onehunga, Hastings, Dunedin, anu Christchureh. Various entries had been received in tht instrumental, vocal, and elocutionary sections. A number of teams of Boy feconts had entered in some of the elapses. Tho literature rection was receiving a good many entries.
Tlie secretary of the Headmasters' Association wrote stating that in cases where headmasters wore agreeable (and they were practically unanimous), the essay vTiters would assemble in a centrally situated school, and the work would bo done there. Two or more supervisors would be appointed, and tho results forwarded to the executive of the society.
